355ml Sleek Can Specs: The Ideal Dimensions for Energy and Functional Drinks

June 24, 2026  |  Technical  |  8 min read

When buyers first source 355ml Sleek cans for energy or functional drinks, the same questions come up: What is the real body diameter? Which end fits? Will it run on my filler? Getting one spec wrong can stall a production run, so we put the core numbers in one place.

This guide covers the 355ml Sleek dimensions, 202-end compatibility, pressure rating and coating options we use for export orders. Use it as a reference sheet to share with your line engineer or co-packer.

355ml Sleek Can Specifications

Why Energy and Functional Drinks Use the Sleek Profile

The 57.4 mm Sleek format is common in energy and functional drinks for four practical reasons:

1. Grip

The narrower diameter fits adult single-hand grip better than a 66 mm Standard can. That matters for on-the-go consumption.

2. Shelf Space

A 57.4 mm can fits roughly 30–35% more facings per shelf metre than a 66 mm Standard can of the same volume.

3. Shelf Presence

The tall, slim silhouette reads as premium in the energy drink aisle, a visual cue that has become category standard.

4. Common End Size

The 202 end is the default for Sleek cans. Most rotary fillers from KHS, Krones and CFT Group run 202 ends natively, so tooling stays standard.

What End Size Fits a 355ml Sleek Can?

The most common spec mistake we see is ordering the wrong end diameter. A 355ml Sleek body only accepts a 202 end.

Can Format End Standard Curl OD (mm) Common Volumes Interchange?
355ml Sleek ★ 202 52.40 200ml / 250ml / 355ml Yes — within 202-end family
330ml Standard 202 52.40 330ml / 350ml No — incompatible with Sleek
500ml Standard 202 52.40 440ml / 500ml / 568ml No — incompatible with Sleek
250ml Sleek 202 52.40 200ml / 250ml / 310ml Yes — shares 202-end
Super Sleek 450ml 202 / 209 52.40 / 63.50 450ml No — different body family
End Size Warning Do not use 206 or 209 ends on a 355ml Sleek body. The 57.4 mm flange only seats a 202 end. Mismatched ends will not seam and can ruin a production run.

Pressure Rating by Beverage Type

Carbonation level drives the minimum pressure rating you need. The table below is the reference our QC team uses for export orders:

Beverage Type Typical Carbonation (Vol CO₂) Fill Pressure (PSI) Recommended Can Rating
Still / Non-Carbonated (water, juice) 0.0 0 – 10 Standard 90 PSI
Low Carbonation (sparkling water) 1.0 – 2.0 15 – 30 Standard 90 PSI
Energy / Functional Drinks ★ 2.5 – 3.2 40 – 65 90 – 95 PSI (Sleek standard)
Standard Beer / Lager 2.5 – 2.8 35 – 55 90 PSI
High-Carbonation Soda / Cola 3.5 – 4.2 65 – 80 95 PSI minimum
Sparkling Wine / Kombucha 4.5 – 6.0 80 – 95 95 PSI — confirm with engineer
"We had a client in Southeast Asia launch a high-carbonation nootropic drink (3.8 vol CO₂) in a standard 90 PSI Sleek can. At 38°C warehouse temperature, internal pressure peaked at 88 PSI — too close to the limit. We moved them to a 95 PSI-rated can with a reinforced base dome. That one change kept the product safe on shelf." — Christine Wong, Sales Director, Alucan

355ml Sleek vs. 355ml Standard Can: What's the Actual Difference?

Parameter 355ml Sleek 355ml Standard (12oz)
Outer Diameter 57.40 mm 66.04 mm
Overall Height 155.73 mm 122.22 mm
End / Lid Standard 202 (52.4mm curl) 202 (52.4mm curl)
Label Area (cm²) ~247 cm² ~256 cm²
Shelf Facings / Metre ~19 facings ~15 facings
Empty Can Weight 13.5 – 14.2 g 14.8 – 15.6 g
Category Perception Premium / Energy Classic / Beer / Soda
Filling Line Tooling Sleek-specific seaming head Standard seaming head

If your product is an energy drink, functional beverage, nootropic, or premium RTD, the Sleek profile is usually the better starting point. Switching formats after launch means new label tooling, filler change parts and retailer planogram updates — costs that can run into five figures for a mid-size brand.

Filling Line Compatibility

Most modern rotary fillers support the 202-end Sleek can. The table below lists common models our customers use:

Filler Manufacturer Model Series 202-End Sleek Support Changeover Required?
KHS Innofill Can C ✅ Native Seaming head swap only
Krones Craftmate / Volumetic ✅ Native Seaming head swap only
CFT Group Certa Series ✅ Native Seaming head swap only
Sidel EvoCan ✅ Native Seaming head swap only
Standard semi-auto Generic rotary (China / India) ⚠ Check model Confirm chuck size with manufacturer
Pro Tip Before your first bulk order, ask for a dimensional compliance report tied to your filler model. We issue these at no charge for orders above 100,000 units.

Internal Coating Options

Functional beverages can be harder on internal coatings than standard CSDs. Acidic ingredients, botanical extracts and electrolytes can cause flavor migration, corrosion or delamination if the liner is wrong.

Coating Type pH Range Resistance Best For FDA / EU Compliant?
BPA-Free Epoxy Blend ★ pH 2.5 – 7.5 Energy drinks, sports drinks, acidic RTD ✅ FDA 21 CFR §175.300 / EU 10/2011
Polyester (PET-Based) pH 3.0 – 8.0 Non-alcoholic functional beverages, water ✅ FDA / EU compliant
Acrylic Coating pH 4.0 – 8.5 Mildly acidic beverages, coconut water ✅ FDA / EU compliant
Standard Epoxy (BPA-containing) pH 2.0 – 9.0 Beer, cola (legacy markets) ⚠ Restricted in EU from 2027
Bare Uncoated pH 6.0 – 8.0 only Still water (short shelf life) ✅ Limited applications
Regulatory Note FDA regulates interior can coatings under 21 CFR §175.300. We provide third-party coating migration test reports for all export orders.

For most energy and functional drinks, we recommend a BPA-free epoxy blend. It covers a wide pH range, holds up for a 24-month shelf life, and complies with FDA and EU food-contact rules.
