Internal Coatings & Linings for Aluminum Cans

Internal coatings protect both the beverage and the aluminum can. Without a protective lining, acidic or aggressive products could react with the metal, affecting taste, safety and shelf life.
Main Coating Types
| Coating | Base Chemistry | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Epoxy-Phenolic | Epoxy-phenolic resin | High-volume industrial markets, acidic beverages |
| BPA-NI | Acrylic/polyester cross-linked | North America, European Union, regulated markets |
Why BPA-NI Matters
BPA-NI (Bisphenol A Non-Intent) coatings are formulated without intentionally added BPA. They are increasingly required by regulators and major retailers in North America and Europe. Alucan can supply BPA-NI internal linings with supporting migration test reports.
Coating Application
- Coating is sprayed inside the formed can body.
- Cured in high-temperature ovens to form a continuous film.
- Tested for coverage, weight and adhesion.
- Matched to product pH, carbonation and pasteurization conditions.
Certifications
We provide SGS food-grade migration reports and can align with ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 and market-specific food-contact regulations.
